A Cure for the Cold

After studying at Northwestern for two years, I’ve come to know Evanston winters quite well. The days and nights are cold, dull and gloomy. Most of the time, I don’t want to go out and my mood takes a dip. Days go by without seeing the sun and I ask myself if I ever really knew anything else. But sometimes, Northwestern can surprise me.

I wanted to escape Evanston so badly, which is why I studied abroad in London. Leaving the city for a bit made me come back with new eyes. After buying groceries last Saturday, I expected to stay inside and work. But as I sat down by the dinner table, I noticed the sunlight pouring through the window. Grab your camera and go.

Here’s to Northwestern, to sitting by the Lakefill, to fighting the winds that fly over Lake Michigan and to walking through -20 degree Celsius to get to class—it’s a pain in the a** sometimes but other times, it’s home.

You can check it out yourself 🙂 the quad is very nice and you can go to the Point, which is right on Lake Michigan and has a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline.

Love your pictures of the lake 🙂 I lived in Chicago for 3 years and know EXACTLY what you are talking about… a 3:30pm sunset and counting my steps in the freezing cold just to make it my apartment door..ugh..and this is from a girl who moved there from Michigan 😂

You’re pictures are gorgeous! It’s funny, I’m not a fan of the cold, but the cold sometimes makes for the most unique pictures and settings. Great post.
