For our last day in Darwin, we booked a tour called Litchfield Escapes, which took us to the 1500-square kilometer Litchfield National Park. It is one of two well-known parks in Darwin, the other being Kakadu National Park. We heard from locals that Litchfield was better suited for one-day excursions and swimming in waterfalls, while Kakadu had more heritage and cultural activities to explore.
Touring Darwin Hop-On Hop-Off Style
Our second day in Darwin, we started off on a hop-on, hop-off bus to get an overview of the city. Darwin has a population of 120,000, which is around half the population of the entire Northern Territory. Compared to the population of Manila, which sits at around 13 million, that number is tiny.
Discovering Darwin: Crocodiles and Sunsets
For our annual summer vacation, my family and I traveled to Australia. We had gone to Australia the summer before, but left feeling like there was still more to see. This trip, we hit up Darwin, Launceston and Hobart in Tasmania, and Melbourne.
Our first stop was Darwin, at the northern tip of the Australian continent and a four-hour flight from the Philippines. My parents, younger sister and brother, and I arrived in Darwin a few hours before sunrise.
